Homeless Center
1561 West 6th Street Fayetteville Arkansas 72701
Our first project with Revision is the first of several improvements to the Seven Hills Homeless Shelter in downtown Fayetteville. On February 19th, Revision hosted a design charette competition held at the shelter open to all engineering and architecture students. Students were asked to submit ideas for the redesign of the shelter's reception desk. The current desk is inadequate to serve the various functions required, and Seven Hills management feels that this first-phase enhancement will substantially improve the ways in which they meet their clients needs. In addition to the construction of the winning design, which will begin in two weeks, Revision also plans to refinish the floors and provide additional storage at the shelter.
At 10 am, teams were given the program and designing began. At 2:30, after a lunch break, each of the 5 teams presented their ideas and their designs were reviewed by a jury of University of Arkansas professors, Seven Hills staff and guests. The event was covered by 3 television news channels including NBC affiliate KNWA, ABC's KHBS/KHOG, and KFSM News Channel 5; and by two newspapers, the Northwest Arkansas Times and the Arkansas Democrat Gazzette.
